After my mother passed away, my aunt visited a medium who shared something unexpected—that my mom had reincarnated as a butterfly. Since then, butterflies have shown up in our lives at the most meaningful moments. For us, they’ve become a comforting symbol of presence, transformation, and love that never leaves.

The name Bean carries double significance in our lives. My daughter Sawyer, who helped bring Alpha Academy to life, has long been known by her nickname, “SoyBean.” As we brainstormed a name for our fluttering mascot, “Bean” felt just right—a tribute to Sawyer and a sweet, subtle nod to our family’s spirit and story.
