Autumn has always been one of my favorite seasons—there’s something magical about the crisp air, crunchy leaves, and the way the world seems to slow down just enough to notice all the little details. As a parent, I love finding ways to turn that magic into moments with my kids, who are natural explorers. Just like Bean the Butterfly from our book series Alpha Academy, we remind them every day: don’t be afraid to spread your wings and fly. This fall alphabet scavenger hunt is one of our favorite ways to combine learning with outdoor play.

Whether they’re jumping into a pile of leaves, coming home with pockets full of acorns, or taking a Halloween walk to marvel at all the glowing decorations, they’re happiest when they’re out discovering. These days our fall also includes a lot of soccer, so the season looks a little different than it used to—but our love for fall hasn’t let up. That’s why I put together a fall alphabet scavenger hunt to help us pause, play, and soak in all the magic autumn has to offer.
We put together a kid-friendly fall alphabet scavenger hunt of things to spot, touch, or find. Some of the highlights have been simple yet so fun:
- A is for Acorns — my kids always manage to come home with pockets full of them.
- B is for Bonfire — nothing beats roasting marshmallows and making s’mores on a chilly night.
- C is for Cornstalk Maze — we had the best time finding our way through the one at the Queens Farm.
- D is for Donuts — especially the warm, sugary apple cider kind from the farm stand.

The best part is seeing their eyes light up—whether it’s spotting a squirrel caught red-pawed in our pumpkin patch, heading to the farm for a hayride, or decorating our yard for Halloween. Every item on the list becomes an opportunity for a mini-adventure, a story, or a burst of giggles.
For me, the fall alphabet scavenger hunt isn’t just about checking off boxes—it’s a way to slow down, notice the beauty around us, and share those little “aha” moments with my kids. There’s nothing like the joy of watching them explore and invent their own fall stories, all while learning about the world around them.
So grab a pencil (or a crayon, or even a stick in the dirt) and start exploring! You never know what discoveries await in your own backyard or neighborhood. And trust me—if your kids are anything like mine, every leaf pile is a potential adventure, every animal sighting a thrill, and every moment outside a memory waiting to happen.

🍂 Ready to start your own adventure?
The best part about this fall alphabet scavenger hunt is that it turns any walk, park day, or backyard play into a fun learning moment. Kids stay curious, parents stay connected, and everyone ends the day with a memory worth keeping.
